Bangladesh Association Houston conducted a seminar and Q&A session on new INS call in registration. His Excellency Syed Hasan Ahmad, Bangladesh Ambassador to the USA graced the occasion. Bangladesh Association Houston Chairperson Selina Rahman introduced the guests and panel of attorneys. Mr. Manzoor Memmon, adviser to the Mayor on South Asian Affairs presented the honorary citizenship of Houston to the Ambassador Ahmad. Houston City Councilmember Gordon Quan also spoke on the occasion. His Excellency the Ambassador Ahmad asked the audience to observe one-minute silence for the Martyrs of Bangla Language movement and then another minute of silence for the innocent victims of 9-11. He emphasized the need for unity among the community members and asked every Bangladeshi to get involved in the mainstream US political process. Get in contact with local Congresspersons/Senators in this difficult and most trying time for Bangladeshi nationals.

Attorney Ehsanur Rahman moderated the Q&A session. Most of the questions were directed to INS Community Affairs personnel Ms. Norma Lacy and INS Public Affairs personnel Luisa Aquino and they assured that they have selected their very best Investigating Officers and every registrant will be treated with dignity and respect. Attorneys Mr. Gordon Quan, Uma Mantravadi, Burhan Nomani, and Natasha Jabbar also answered questions. At the end of the session Attorney Uma Mantravadi asked every one to observe one-minute silence for the Columbia Astronauts. Ms. Selina Rahman thanked everyone for their participation and pledged Bangladesh Association Houston's resources to offer any kind of help to the local community during the registration process.
