| The
inauguration of the new Board of Directors of the Bangladesh
Association, Houston was held at the Missouri Community Civic Center
on Saturday, Jan.17, 2003. The presence of all three election
commissioners along with many community members glorified the evening.
The new board members were sworn in by Dr. Anisul Islam, followed by a
speech from the new chairperson, Professor Selina Rahman. Her speech
was a touching welcome to all the Bangladeshi's in the
community, asking for a prosperous future of unity among the
Bangldeshi community and providing the kids with a platform to grow up
as proud future leaders. The seven new board members are Selina Rahman as Chairperson,
Afzal Ahmed as Vice Chairman, Mohammad Masoom as Secretary
General, Naela Huq as Dir. of Cultural Affairs, Rezwana Muhsin (Ribu)
as Dir. of Organizational Affairs, Mohammad Prodhan as Dir. of Finance
and Budget, and Zahidur Rahman (Mizu) as Dir. of Sports Affairs.
Following the speeches and dinner was a wonderfully organized,
colorful, cultural program. Young children, adults, and youth performed in this delightful variety
program. Overall it was a most successful inauguration to start the
new board members' term of 2003-2004.
